With over 150 million
blogs available to view, it's easy to find one that not only interests you, but
also keeps you reading every time a new post is published. Topic matter of
blogs range from cooking to politics and everyday life to new science discoveries.
Businesses have found this venue helpful, but so have stay at home moms. In
essence, anyone from any background can use and maintain a blog because they
are free, easy to use, and effective.
Among the most common of blog hosts are Blogger.com and Wordpress.com. Both are free and have a simple and easy layout. Without knowing any HTML anyone can create a blog, arrange a layout, change the background, and frequently update it with new posts. All in hopes that someone will care enough to read what you have been writing and be interested in the topic you are discussing.
Blogs often start out personal. They are small and have a handful of readers that often know the blogger personally. Sometimes however, a blog can begin to attract many followers and eventually become a popular website. This is the case for one of my favorite blogs to read, www.howsweeteats.com.
This daily updated cooking blog started on September 14, 2009. Since then it has grown to have thousands of readers. Alexa, a web information company, reports that HowSweetEats has a traffic ranking of 30,968. Which despite the seemingly large number, is very good considering the hundreds of thousands of sites on the web.
This woman started a simple blog detailing something she was passionate about. By expressing her joy and love about cooking in her own voice and style she became convincing and intriguing to others. She was effective and as a result has a very popular and well read blog. HowSweetEats.com is one story of many who have become popular through the daily chronicles of life, hobbies, and passions.

I like how you talk about background information of Blogs. I don't know a whole lot about them, so it was interesting for me!
ReplyDeleteIt's so true that a lot of blogs will start out personal and then expand. The neat thing is, with enough views, you can start to advertise and/or present different topics and things you love. That's what I love about blogging. And that fact that hours and hours are often spent reading! Good insight!
ReplyDeleteI think that most blogs start as personal because of that the person's realm of knowledge. I think we relate to the experiences of other people and therefore find enjoyment out of reading other blogs. Great post and insights brought up.
